Highgate School Library

academic

Working in collaboration with Clague Architects, Luke Hughes were commissioned to design and craft the library furnishings at London’s historic Highgate School. Housed within a Grade II listed building designed by Fredrick Pepys Cockerell in 1865, the interior of the structure has been sensitively updated to facilitate the needs of its students whilst retaining the building’s vaulted, Victorian character. In-keeping with the vision of a hub to compliment both independent and group learning, the library succeeds in providing a multi-functional space with furniture that encourages communal learning and responds to the demands of a modern education.
