New College, Oxford

The Luke Hughes team is once again working with one of the country's leading conservation architects, Caroe Architecture, on an ambitious yet sensitive expansion project for New College, Oxford.

The scheme will reorganise the space between the college’s Grade-I listed chapel and the ancient perimeter of Oxford’s city wall, and add facilities for their world-famous choir.

As part of the ongoing works, we recently installed new architecturally-appropriate lighting in the college's dining room. 44 polished brass lamps were manufactured. Luke Hughes-designed Wykeham chairs were previously installed.

Past joint projects with Caroe include the refurbishment of the Maufe Building and the archive library in the School of Pythagoras at St John’s College, Cambridge. Read more about the competition-winning scheme here.
