St Francis Church, The Engine Room

Bespoke altar at St Francis Church

In October 2017, London's newest purpose-built church in 40 years opened its doors to its congregation and the local community. St Francis at The Engine Room, part of the Church of England in the Diocese of London, is located in Tottenham, London.

It was officially dedicated by the Bishop of Edmonton and houses the Church, a cafe, nursery and community garden. The Church forms part of the Hale Village masterplan, designed by BDP Architects.

The Luke Hughes team were honored to design a bespoke altar in solid American Black walnut for the Church. Consisting of two worship areas - a small chapel and large community space - the flexible altar can expand and contract to fit in both spaces.
