St Paul’s Girls’ School

In 1986, London’s St. Paul’s Girls’ School opened the Siegmund Warburg Memorial Library after a sizeable donation of history books from the late financier’s collection. The intimate space was simply furbished by the school’s existing seating, chosen by the school's original Architect, Gerald Horsley, in 1904.

Luke Hughes was called upon to refurbish the library’s chairs and provide 50 new Folio chairs for the adjoining room’s study areas. The original Horsley chairs were re-glued, re-polished, re-upholstered and given renewed life for another 100 years.

Read Luke Hughes’ blog on the project to read more on his approach and unique family connection to the school.
