The Academy

Stacking and linking timber chair.

Housed within some of the finest cultural buildings, the Academy chair was first designed for Duke’s Hall at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The Academy has since been used at St George’s in Bristol and the Redgrave Lecture Theatre at Buckingham Palace.

Made from sustainably sourced European Oak of the highest quality, all Academy chairs come with fine Scottish leather upholstery as standard.

The Academy can be specified with ganging / linking brackets. A range of standard stain finishes is available and custom stains can be matched upon request.

The Wykeham

 Stacking timber chair.

Originally designed for the 14th-century Founder’s library at New College, Oxford, the Wykeham chair features a triple Gothic arch back and rich leather upholstered seat.

The Wykeham has since gone on to furnish the dining commons at Benjamin Franklin College, Yale University, Merton College, Oxford and numerous other academic institutions. 

Made from sustainable European Oak of the highest quality, the Wykeham comes with the finest Scottish leather upholstery as standard.

Architects and designers can specify any suitable commercial-grade fabric and have four standard and an infinite number of custom stains to choose from.

The Lincoln

Stacking timber chair.

A contemporary take on classic chair design, the Lincoln chair was originally designed for the Oakeshott room at Lincoln College, Oxford.

Made from European Oak of the highest quality and sourced from sustainable forests, the Lincoln comes with the finest Scottish leather upholstery as standard.

Alternatively, architects and designers can specify any suitable commercial-grade fabric and have four standard stain colours to choose from. Custom stain and felt glides can also be specified to create a unique product for the end client.

The Folio

Stacking timber chair.

One of our most enduring designs, the Folio chair has been constantly refined, re-imagined and re-engineered since its debut.

Originally designed as an armchair for the Folio Society, it has gone on to reside in many fine buildings including the Royal Opera House, the Institute of International Affairs and Trinity Hall, Cambridge, the MSSA Department of the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University and The Hill School.

The Newnham

Stacking timber chair.

One of our earliest academic chair designs remains one of our most enduring. The Newnham chair was designed for the Clough Dining Hall at Newnham College.

The Newnham has also been used at Prince of Wales Orangery, Brasenose College, Oxford and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. With a slightly narrower frame than the Folio the Newnham is ideal for K9-12 age groups and has therefore been adapted and used at all three dining commons at Yale NUS Singapore.

The Downing

Stacking timber chair.

Originally designed for Downing College, the Downing stacking chair can be found in the dining halls of St John’s, Pembroke, Gonville & Caius and Sidney Sussex colleges. Graded-in leather as standard.

Along with its sister chair, the Newnham, the Downing has a slightly narrower frame than the Folio, making it suitable for both adults and K9-12 age groups in spaces where the maximising of capacity is paramount.

The Coventry Chair

The Coventry chair design was originally commissioned from acclaimed British furniture designer Dick Russell by Sir Basil Spence for Coventry Cathedral, and was later selected to furnish churches and cathedrals across the world. 

Now reengineered and revived by Luke Hughes more than 50 years later, the Coventry chair is a true icon of post-war Mid-Century Modern design and a symbol of revival and longevity.

Made from European Oak of the highest quality and sourced from sustainable forests, the Coventry chair now comes in 2 different sizes and four different stains as standard.

Clients, architects and designers can specify linking / ganging brackets and custom stains on special request. Felt glides can also be specified.

Stacking chair dolly

Stacks of chairs should not be dragged. This portable trolley is designed to move and store chairs safely and with ease, ensuring maximum lifespan and ROI.

Recommended use is 5 chairs per trolley. Maximum 7 at owners risk.
