First designed for Canterbury Cathedral and subsequently used in numerous churches and school chapels, the Assembly church chair and chapel chair offers a robust yet comfortable seat and backrest in solid oak. The indented top rail makes it a comfortable seat, while the top-rail’s straight trailing edge enables the Assembly chair to gang in perfectly straight rows.
The Assembly church chair now features in the newly refurbished Trinity Church, Wall St in downtown Manhattan (photos courtesy of Yvette Gaudier-Jabaut for EvensonBest, NY).
Like all our chairs, the Assembly chair is engineered for a 30-50+ year lifespan. All of our church and chapel chairs are also designed to be refurbished, helping to ensure that they last for decades. This all helps to ensure that we offer the best long term value for our client and that carbon remains locked up for as long as possible.
A new fold-up, demountable kneeler with a solid oak frame and leather or commercial-grade fabric upholstered knee pad can now be specified as an additional item for the Assembly chair. This attaches to, and detaches from, the back of the church chair if required, and easily folds up out of the way when not in use.
Made in solid oak sourced from sustainable forests, the Assembly is designed to link/gang, stacking five (maximum six) chairs high. Options include the integral folding kneeler, above, finished to match the chair frame, a bookshelf and ganging/linking brackets.
The Assembly church chair and comes without glides as standard. Felt or LDPE glides can be specified as options and can be a good choice if acoustics are poor or if a quiet side chapel chair is needed.
