A well-established, award-winning London-based design practice, Luke Hughes & Company design, engineer, manufacture and deliver exceptional bespoke furniture for notable buildings, the world’s leading design architects and prestigious client organisations worldwide.

With more than 100,000 pieces of furniture in place in over 300 cities, significant growth in our US, UK and China business and strong long-term deal flow, we are actively looking to recruit an exceptional individual to develop and lead our Aftersales / Field Service business.

Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director and liaising closely with our account, project management, production and design engineering teams based in central London, New York and Beijing, you will develop, implement, lead and grow our innovative aftersales business, which is founded on the principles of exceptional lifespan and long-term sustainability.

This is a really interesting role and will take a special kind of person with a unique combination of skills and expertise. First and foremost, it is hands-on, but also involves being able to lead and build our aftersales relationship with high-profile UK and international clients, so it requires excellent communication, planning and coordination skills as well as a deep understanding of furniture design, manufacture and refurbishment.

From simple individual fixes to the planning and running of complete installs and refurbishment programmes for clients to maximise the product lifecycle, you can expect your work will take you all over the UK, to the US, the Middle East and Asia, where you will work with our in-house production management team to build a network of specialists within our ISO9001 supplier management framework.

Your success will quickly lead to the development of an Aftersales organisation around you which contributes directly to both the bottom line and repeat business. You therefore have to demonstrate an innate ability to lead a team, build trust, and deliver results.


You will have:

  • Hands-on knowledge and expertise of cabinet making, metalworking, and engineering to a very high standard, either as a long-standing passion or from a career in a bespoke engineering environment such as specialist vehicles or yacht design.
  • Significant (ideally at least 10 years) of experience, 3 of which spent in a development, Field Service or Aftersales role
  • Sophisticated, cultured communication skills
  • Fluent and articulate spoken and excellent written English
  • A passion for quality, furniture and flawless engineering
  • An ability to define, develop, refine and work with processes
  • The ability to adopt technology and new business systems
  • The ability to setup, organise and run projects on time and on budget
  • The capability to see the big picture, but have a meticulous eye for detail
  • Strong teamworking and collaborative skills and a can-do, will-do attitude
  • A sense of fun and adventure, with experience of travelling or working overseas
  • A full driving license and a valid passport
