One of our earliest academic chair designs remains one of our most enduring. The Newnham chair was designed for the Clough Dining Hall at Newnham College. The Newnham has also been used at Prince of Wales Orangery, Brasenose College, Oxford and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.
With a slightly narrower frame than the Folio the Newnham academic chair is ideal for K9-12 age groups and has therefore been adapted and used at all three dining commons at Yale NUS Singapore.
Like all our chairs, the Lincoln academic chair is engineered for a 30-50+ year lifespan. Made from European Oak of the highest quality and sourced from sustainable forests, its solid oak frame gives it a potential lifespan measured in decades. The Lincoln academic chair has also been designed to be refurbished, helping to ensure that it can pass from generation to generation. This all helps to ensure that carbon remains locked up for as long as possible.
The Newnham academic chair comes with the finest Scottish leather upholstery as standard. Alternatively, architects and designers can specify any suitable commercial-grade fabric and have four standard stain colours to choose from. The leather and fabric we supply is CAL117 rated. Custom stain, felt glides and commemorative discs can also be specified to create a unique product for the end client.
